British national with anemia treated by high dose intravenous iron supplementation at hematology department
On January 14, 2022, the department of Hematology welcomed the first foreign patient, who was diagnosed with iron deficiency anemia, one of the most common diseases in the department of hematology.
Nichole (name changed) is a foreign teacher living in Shenzhen with her husband and children for more than a year. She had symptoms of dizziness, fatigue and after a series of examination at institutions outside the hospital, she was diagnosed with iron deficiency anemia and admitted to the department of Hematology. Nichole has congenital intestinal torsion, so the absorption of oral iron is poor, while for ordinary intravenous or intramuscular iron supplementation needs to be hospitalized for a long time. However, due to work reasons, Nichole wanted to be discharge from the hospital as soon as possible. After careful consideration, Professor Li Limin of the department of Hematology has formulated an intravenous high-dose iron supplementation and the patient can be discharged within three days after admission. Dr. Atik from International Medical Administration (IMA) actively assisted our department in communicating with the patient, which greatly helped the patient during her time in the hospital. Nichole was very satisfied with the hospital care she received during her stay at the hospital. The treatment formulated by department of Hematology not only meet the needs of patients, but also achieve effective treatment results.
During her hospitalization in department of Hematology, Nichole met and interacted with a special group of young patients. The young patients are children suffering from acute leukemia and undergone hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. They are school-age teenagers, but the disease caused them to be hospitalized for a long time. The children were over-joyed to see a foreigner in the wards and eager to meet and speak with Nichole with their limited English. Nichole sympathized with them and was happy to communicate with them. Their tender eyes, coupled with effect of chemotherapy on the children, touched Nichole and she promised to come back to hospital after her discharge specially to teach English to these children. The young patients also formed a mutual aid learning group to coach and encourage each other under the limited conditions of the ward.
The team of doctors at the department of hematology has years of experience in the diagnosis and treatment of various benign and malignant hematological diseases. Professor Li LiMin of department of Hematology specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of difficult hematology cases and is an expert in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation therapy for refractory leukemia. She has successfully carried out the first allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in Nanshan District.
血液内科首位外籍患者出院
大剂量静脉补铁大大缩短住院时间
2022年1月14日，我院血液内科迎来第一名外籍患者，该患者的诊断为血液内科最常见的一种疾病——缺铁性贫血。
Nichole女士是一名外籍教师，与丈夫、孩子在深圳生活了一年多。她有头晕、乏力的症状，在院外机构进行了一系列检查，被诊断为缺铁性贫血。Nichole女士有先天性肠扭转，口服补铁吸收较差，而普通静脉或肌注补铁需要住院较长时间。然而由于工作原因，Nichole女士想尽快出院，我院血液内科李丽敏教授经过慎重考虑，制定了短时间内为患者静脉大剂量补铁的方案，患者入院三天后即可出院。国际医疗部Atik博士积极协助与患者沟通，给患者给予了很大帮助。Nichole对此次住院治疗非常满意，血液科制定的治疗方案既满足了患者的需要，又达到了有效的治疗效果。
血液内科还有一群特殊的小患者，他们是急性白血病并且进行了造血干细胞移植的孩子，他们都是学龄青少年，本该在阳光明媚的教室上学，但是疾病使他们长期住院，错过了快乐的学习时光。孩子们看到病房里有外国人非常高兴，急切地想用他们有限的英语和Nichole见面交谈。Nichole很同情他们，也很乐意和他们交流。他们温柔的眼神，加上化疗对孩子们的影响，感动了Nichole，她答应出院后会回医院专门教孩子们英语。在病房条件有限的情况下，这群孩子们还组成了互助学习小组，互相指导、互相鼓励。
我院血液内科团队对各种良恶性血液病的诊治经验都非常丰富，李丽敏教授尤其擅长血液科疑难病例的诊治以及难治性白血病的造血干细胞移植，成功开展了南山区首例异基因移植。
